Courtesy Oscar Santillan.

Oscar Santillan insinuates in his work the existence of a territory where fact and fiction are exchangeable. Unexpected events occur there, the beat of drums synchronises to the sweat of a person, the unrealised desire of a dead person is fulfilled, a cloud is physically capture in a marble container, or the tip of a mountain is stolen.

Oscar received an MFA degree in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University – VCU (USA); attended residencies at Fondazione Ratti (Italy), Skowhegan (USA), and Seven Below (USA). He is currently a researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academy (Netherlands).

His work has been displayed at Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil (Mexico), Nest (Netherlands), Havana Biennial (Cuba), The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art – SECCA (USA), Copperfield Gallery (UK), Marilia Razuk Gallery (Brazil), Oud-Rekem Castle (Belgium), Bonnefanten Museum (Netherlands), Centro de Arte Contemporáneo – CAC (Equador), Fundación ODEON (Colombia), VOGT Gallery (USA), Guatemala Biennial (Guatemala), among other venues.
