Merve Ünsal (Turkey) is an artist based in Istanbul. She is interested in tracing artistic production through the lecture format. She has previously explored this topic through writing, editing, and visual and verbal collages that employ automatisation and found imagery.

Merve is the co-founder of, an artist-centered online project in which artist works, studio visits, and articles based on or related to conversations on visual practices are published.

Merve has twice participated in Banff Centre Visual Arts Residencies and written for a range of publications in and outside of Turkey including Flash ArtDARE Magazine, and XXI.

She received her MFA from Parsons The New School for Design in Photography and Related Media and her BA from Princeton University in Art and Archaeology.

Merve’s residency is supported by SAHA as part of the annual Research Fellowship with Delfina Foundation, Iniva and Goldsmiths College’s Department of Visual Cultures and the PhD. Program in Curatorial/Knowledge.  Her research will explore the relationship between artistic research and artist-driven publications with case studies on and Art-ist, one of the most important art publications based in Turkey, founded and ran by artists.
