Huo Rf (Turkey) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, video, and found materials. Copper is often employed for its malleability; mirroring both his flexible approach to process, and his fluid exploration of queer perspectives and identities. Empathy, gathering, and collaboration are central to his practice, through listening to the stories of individuals he congeals communal feeling in his work – confronting sociocultural norms and stressing the personal as political.
During his residency at Delfina Foundation, Huo Rf will focus on deepening his exploration of aging as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon. Drawing from London’s rich cultural landscape, including its renowned museums and archives, he aims to investigate the societal, queer, and institutional perspectives on aging, integrating these insights into his research. Through this process, he plans to develop a deeper understanding of how aging is represented and preserved in art and culture while examining its broader personal and political implications.
Huo Rf is the co-founder of the online platform border_less (2018) and border_less ARTBOOK DAYS (2019), the first and largest art-book event in Turkey. He is also a founding member of Signs of Time (2011), an Istanbul-based artist collective. His writings have been featured in Vogue Türkiye, YKY Sanat Dünyamız, Art Unlimited, and Tohu Magazine among others. He has been publishing a series of interviews, Huo Is Asking, in Art Unlimited Magazine since 2014.
