Cherry Xu (China) began collecting art in 2020, following her fine art studies in the US. She is a member of Tate’s Asia-Pacific Acquisitions Committee.
Cherry’s collection has a focus on young and emerging artists. Its formation has been personally directed, informed by and benefiting from her cross-cultural educational background. She collects pieces in which she believes that the visual language of the artist reveals previously unnoticed and unremarked aspects of reality, resulting in a refresh of cognitive habits.
During her residency at Delfina Foundation, Cherry will be devising a strategic plan for a foundation she is establishing in Shanghai to support young artists and explore interdisciplinary creative practices.
Cherry (b. 1994) was born in China, and is currently based in Shanghai.
