Yim Sui Fong (Hong Kong) is an artist exploring the intersection of art, sound, and pedagogy, focusing on relational materials and the creative aspects of memory. By using sound as a medium for participation, she examines how it can both enhance and disrupt the sonic dynamics in shared urban spaces; challenging the conventional notion of common. Sui Fong actively runs workshops and research, and develops experiential installations and instruments that not only encourage participation but also aim to foster a sense of agency in archiving and mending (and assisting) memory.

During her residency, she will be continuing the research into archives and sonic interventions, while engaging with situated learning practices in the UK context.

Sui Fong is also the co-founder and current honorary Artistic Director of Rooftop Institute, a community of creative artists who believe in the transformative power of artist-led learning. Rooftop Institute started in 2016 and continues to actively promote community-based education. Also, as an assistant professor in the Fine Arts Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, she is a founding member of Ecologies of Participation, a transdisciplinary research initiative between the university’s Fine Arts, Architecture, and Media and Cultural Studies Departments

Yim Sui Fong was born in Guangdong, China and is now based in Hong Kong.
