Shenece Oretha (UK associate) is a multidisciplinary artist currently listening in London. Oretha creates collective and mobilising works activating sound in sculpture, performance, installation, workshops, print and text scores.
As a UK associate at Delfina, Shenece will use her residency to invest in the mobilising potential of sound enacted in the materiality of instruments and moving sound sculptures – continuing her recent work’s engagement with the toll. She will approach listening as a collective invitation and create embodied and sensitive openings to thinking phonetically about transcribing sound into material and text.
Shenece solo shows include Tolled, The Hepworth Wakefield (2023), Ah So It Go, Ah No So It Go, Go So!, Cubitt Gallery, London (2022), Called to Respond, Cell Project Space, London (2020), TESTING GROUNDS, Cafe OTO Project Space, London (2019).
