Robertas Narkus (Lithuania) describes his practice as ‘management of circumstances in the economy of coincidence’. Through the miscellaneous use of techniques, strategies, technologies and collaborations he brings together the ordinary and the absurd to explore notions of knowledge, power games and anecdotes of neoliberal reality.

Robertas is the founder of the Vilnius Institute of Pataphysics; the organiser of Autarkia, an artists’ day care centre; the originator of eeKulgrinda, an experimental engineering camp; involved with the Visionary, a platform for art and hi-tech cooperation.

During residency Robertas is going to launch a “self improvement” programme called ‘Out of Sync’, a behavioral laboratory which will explore escapism as pro-active possibly political position. By making surgical adjustments to everyday life routine artist will attempt to indulge into a neoluditith lifestyle and record the effects these changes have on artistic outputs.

Robertas holds MFA degree at the Sandberg Instituut at Rietveld Academie. He recently exhibited at CAC Vilnius, XII Baltic Triennial, KIM? (Riga), de Appel art Center (Amsterdam), Establiment de’ en Face (Brussels), V Marrakech biennale. He is currently a visiting lecturer at Vilnius Academy of Arts.
