Madina Joldybek (UK Associate) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator from Jezkazgan, Kazakhstan, based in London. Her practice revolves around themes of bodily integrity, multi-dimensional motherhood, food politics, and authoritarian regimes. Madina employs various mediums such as weaving, painting, sculpture, video, and installation, alongside self-publishing and zine-making in her work.

During her residency at Delfina Foundation, she will focus on researching unstructured play, care work, and the visibility of mothers in public space, drawing on her lived experience of parenting and feminist spatial practices. She will continue developing her participatory practice around collective care and child-led play, working towards a new collaborative project with the artist duo ‘Leap Then Look.’

Selected exhibitions and public programs showcasing her work include Mother at Goodyear Arts in North Carolina (2025); The Lahore Biennale 03: Of Mountains and Seas at the Alhamra Art Centre (2024); Biennale Matter of Art at the National Gallery Prague (2024); Interweaving Climate, Water(s) and Communities at Ainalaiyn Space x Three Highgate Gallery in London (2025); Clouds, Power, Ornament at the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile in Hong Kong (2023); Chilltan x Saodat Ismailova at documenta fifteen in Kassel (2022), Azbuka Strikes Back at Slavs and Tatars’ Pickle Bar in Berlin (2022).

Madina’s work is part of the public collections of the Museum of Art in Łódź and the Kasteev State Museum of Arts, as well as private collections. She is a recipient of the Prince Claus SEED Award and the inaugural B. Bubikanova Art Prize (2024), and a member of the DAVRA research collective.

Madina was born in Jezkazgan, Kazakhstan, and is currently based in London.
