Lai Fei (China) is an editor, art critic, translator, and researcher who has spent the past 11 years editing art magazines, including LEAP (since 2014) and the Chinese edition of ArtReview (since 2022).
Fei plans to carry out a research-based project exploring the layered queer geographies of parks in London, while drawing comparative studies from cities with prominent queer populations in China (i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Changsha). The project will examine how queer individuals and communities historically—and presently—navigate, inhabit, and (re)claim public spaces. Her research will take shape through a series of walking tours, closed-door screenings, and a bilingual (EN/CN) reader that brings together essays, artworks, autofiction, maps, and conversations.
Lai Fei was born in China and is based in Shanghai, China.
