Jonathan Baldock (UK Associate) is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, installation and performance. Rooted in hand-making processes, his practice explores the emotional and psychological charge of materials. He draws on folklore, nature, the body, craft traditions and the theatrical to create immersive, anthropomorphic environments. Ceramics, fabric, wood and clay become vessels through which intimacy, vulnerability and transformation are staged.

Throughout this thematic season, Jonathan hopes to deepen his exploration of hand-making and material knowledge, particularly how processes of craft can carry emotional and cultural memory. He views this as an important opportunity to spend time alongside makers from different international contexts; a chance to exchange skills, techniques, and ways of thinking about material, and to reflect on how these shared dialogues might shape future work.

Significant solo institutional exhibitions include presentations at Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh (2025); London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE, UK (2025); Kunstverein Göttingen, Germany (2023); Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield, UK (2023-2024); Accelerator, Stockholm, Sweden (2021); La Casa Encendida, Madrid, Spain (2021); Kunsthall Stavanger, Norway (2020); and Camden Arts Centre, London, UK (2019-2020). In June 2026, Jonathan will open a solo exhibition at Arnolfini in Bristol, to be accompanied by his first monograph publication.

Jonathan was born in the UK and is currently based in London.
