Ayesha Sultana (Bangladesh) working with sound, drawing, object, painting and photography, is interested in the poetics of space and the relationship between material and process in notions of making. Within the context of drawing, her recent body of work is an investigation into the rudiments of form through architectural constructions, often derivative of the landscape.
Born in Jessore, Bangladesh, Ayesha currently resides in Dhaka. She received a BFA in Visual Arts (2007) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Art Education (2008) from Beaconhouse National University in Lahore. Her participation in recent solo and group exhibitions include Outside the Field of View, Experimenter, Kolkata; 1134 – Lives not Numbers, Pathshala South Asian Media Academy, Dhaka; B/Desh, Dhaka Art Summit, Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka; Cross-Casting, Britto Space a contemporary art hub, Dhaka; and Listen Up!, Delhi (all 2014).
Ayesha is a member of the artist run organisation, Britto Arts Trust and is a recipient of the Samdani Art Award 2014.
