Alberto Ríos de la Rosa (Mexico) is a Mexican art curator and cultural advocate based in Mexico City. Over the past fifteen years, he has shaped a curatorial practice rooted in the conviction that art is most effective when it serves the community.
As curator at Fundación Casa Wabi (2014–2024), he organised exhibitions for artists such as Jannis Kounellis, Ugo Rondinone, Huma Bhabha, and Claudia Comte, while building institutional bridges between international contemporary art and the communities of the Oaxacan coast. Under his direction, the residencies in Puerto Escondido and Tokyo welcomed over 350 art professionals. At PAC ART in Houston (2022–2025), he developed an ecosystem for artistic growth and international networking. His previous experience includes roles at Museo Tamayo, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
His residency will focus on works that engage with themes of gender and queer ecologies at Tate Modern. This research will emphasise overlooked works and artists offering new interpretative perspectives, beginning with the current Monsieur Vénus display and expanding to include works that challenge traditional hierarchies and gender categories.
He holds an MA in Art History from The Courtauld Institute of Art (2014) and a BA from Macalester College (2011). His work focuses on the intersection of curation, mediation, and cultural advocacy.
