BIENNALE ARTE 2019: PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME

About

Florence Peake and Eve Stainton (UK) have an artistic, romantic collaboration, in addition to operating their own autonomous practices. Meeting through somatic and choreographic movement practices, their works enquire into symbiotic ecologies, the queer lesbian sense and speculative conjuring as a form of activism.

Performance

Apparition Apparition (2019)

This performance contains nudity.

This work explores the notion of materiality and the nature of our physical selves/bodies within the frame of ecological devastation. The artists are proposing ‘a dig’ as a site for manifestation, reflection and activity, and excavation as a releasing of apparitional states. Peake and Stainton endeavour to conjure and become The Apparitions. Here their intimate relationship in real life becomes, once again, a way to discuss what is at stake, personally and politically.
