Join us to launch the exhibition catalogue of Shifting Sands: a Battle Song, the catalogue to accompany Manal AlDowayan’s participation in the Saudi National Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia.  

During this exclusive exhibition catalogue launch, the artist and curators will present the catalogue and delve into the creative process behind the artwork.

After the talk, guests are invited to enjoy canapés and take home a copy of the catalogue.

Shifting Sands: a Battle Song includes texts by Jessica Cerasi, Maya El Khalil, Iwona Blazwick, Ruba Al-Sweel, Camille Morineau, Ghada AlMuhanna and Fawziyya Abu Khalid. English/Arabic edition. Translation by Moussa El Houchi.

Biography

Manal AlDowayan

is one of Saudi Arabia’s most significant contemporary artists working internationally. Her work, which spans various mediums including photography, sound, sculpture, and participatory practice, interrogates traditions, collective memories, and the status and representation of women. AlDowayan is currently representing Saudi Arabia at the 60th International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennale.
