Imagine you could pick a sentence from your favorite book and stretch it with your hands like a bubble gum. Then by squeezing it, imagine you could build a completely new form to it.

What things are still readable even when text is gone?

Playing at turning the metaphor of ‘how flexible languages could be’ into something tangible, this peculiar modelling workshop is intended to explore language possibilities and impossibilities through touch and materiality. An invitation to rethink and reshape language in fantastical, whimsical, quirky, unexpected forms.

Join Ana Bidart first for an artist-led tour through her exhibition Long before the walls, in which she will share process insights and questions around her research. After that, guided by some playful instructions and casual group conversation, participants will be encourage to mold -in small groups or individually-, a new invented alphabet with their own hands using molding foam (or air-drying clay).

At the end of the session we will make a collective composition with all the resulting alphabets. Participants are welcome to take their creations with them at the end of the workshop.

All materials will be provided. Refreshments will also be available.

No previous modeling experience is required. Kids with an adult companion are very welcome.
