A Home for Artists is our campaign to raise the £7M we need to purchase and renovate our London home and develop our innovative creative programmes to support international practitioners and inspire young UK-based artists.
Delfina Foundation and our predecessor organisation, Delfina Studios, were founded by visionary philanthropist Delfina Entrecanales. Across our history the two spaces have provided over 1,000 artists with space and time to make art, and our exhibitions and public programmes have reached hundreds of thousands of people in the UK and internationally.
Since 2007 Delfina Foundation has welcomed 400 artists and creatives from over 90 countries to our home in London. We run a year-round residency, exhibition and events programme, working with partners across the UK and the world. We are an integral part of the talent pipeline. The artists we support go on to work with major institutions internationally, including Tate, MoMA and documenta, amongst many others. In 2024, six Foundation alumni represented national pavilions at La Bienniale di Venezia.
We have grown to become the largest international artist residency programme in the UK, a global creative and philanthropic community, and a place where audiences can encounter new artistic perspectives. So much of the work of an artist residency is invisible, but without Delfina, museums, galleries and audiences in the UK and around the world would not benefit from some of the most exciting art being made today.
In 2022 our founder, Delfina Entrecanales, passed away, putting our future at risk. Her son and our trustee, Charles Wansbrough, has provided a generous donation to kick start a fundraising campaign to allow us to buy the property, and secure the future of this groundbreaking arts organisation.
Delfina was founded on a fundamental belief in art’s transformational ability to create cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, and in artists being at the vanguard of positive social change. Since the very beginning the Foundation has been committed to the creation and nourishment of a global creative and philanthropic community, and sustaining this endeavour has never been more important for the continued vitality of the arts in the UK than it is today.
Our vision is to make Delfina a home for hundreds more international residents. We want to renovate our home, making it more sustainable and creating more exhibition space, offer additional opportunities to our alumni, and inspire young UK based artists that a creative career is possible.
We simply cannot do this without you, and we need your help.
Please make a pledge to our campaign and join our Founder’s Circle or Changemakers’ Circle. Our Founder and Changemakers’ Circles acknowledge the generosity of our campaign donors, now and in the future, and donations of all scales will help us continue our work making a home for artists.
