Join us for an informal social event to get to know the current group of residents in our thematic season, Making and Materiality

The inaugural season of Making and Materiality will explore the intersection of fine art, craft and design practices. The practices of this season’s residents span tapestry, weaving and crochet, biomaterial research, ceramics, sculpture, and durational performance, and investigate questions of environmental waste and sustainability, new technologies, material decay, community, ancestral and embodied knowledge – all realised through a deep focus on the concept, practice and skill of making.

In addition to having a drink and chatting with our residents, we hope this social event will also be an occasion to meet and make connections with other local art practitioners in the city.

This season we are thrilled to be hosting Chloe Bensahel (US/France), Heidi Jalkh (Colombia/Argentina), Kelly Jin Mei (Singapore), Katesi Jacqueline Kalange (Uganda), Tsuyoshi Anzai (Japan), Defne Tesal (Türkiye), Asma  Belhamar (United Arab Emirates), Jonathan Baldock (UK Associate), Jo Grogan (UK Associate), Madina Joldybek (UK Associate), Lucia Gašparovičová (Slovakia/Czech Republic), and Sayan Chanda (UK Associate).

This is a casual event with refreshments provided. At 18:45, there will be a 30-minute pause to the conversations to allow our residents to briefly introduce their practices to all those gathered.
