Delfina Entrecanales recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Delfina Entrecanales.
Delfina Foundation is proud to announce that our founder, Delfina Entrecanales, has been honoured with a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for services to the arts, as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
For several decades, Delfina has supported over 500 artists through Delfina Studio Trust and Delfina Foundation without significant recognition. She has never built an art collection nor has she sought the media limelight for her endeavors; instead, she has taken satisfaction in seeing former resident artists go on to achieve critical acclaim and receive accolades from the Turner Prize to the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale.
A true cultural ambassador and patron of the arts, Delfina has fostered career-defining opportunities for artistic experimentation, participation and exchange. There are very few individuals in the UK who have so uniquely and tangibly supported British and international artists in their personal and professional development with no-strings-attached generosity. We are proud that Delfina has received such recognition. At 85 years old, she continues to provide innovative platforms for cultural practitioners and to oversee the expansion of Delfina Foundation in 2013.
Delfina personally would like to thank all of the wonderful partners and patrons that given their support to individual residents and our programmes at Delfina Foundation over the last five years, as well as those who supported Delfina Studio Trust. In her own words, “This glory also shines on all of you.”
