Matheus Rocha Pitta, Fountain For The Unknown Protester, 2015.

Date:  Saturday, 30 May 2015
Time:  11:00 – 19:00
Location:  Colvestone Crescent
Dalston Street Market

Through Fountain For The Unknown Protester, resident artist Matheus Rocha Pitta invites audiences to engage with an ephemeral public monument and participative intervention.

Based on a newspaper image of a protester being silenced by high-pressure water from a Police cannon, the artist will create a precarious sculpture that aims to revert this violence and to meditate on politics, language and silence.

On Saturday 30th May, the public sculpture will temporarily be installed in the lively neighbourhood of Dalston, London.

The artist will then invite passers-by and Ridley Road Market strollers to bring and lay a bottle of water at the foot of the “monument” in homage to the Unknown Protester, a generous and voluntary gesture which celebrates past, present and future collective actions.

Please bring a bottle of water to the Unknown Protester!
