Former resident artist Hrair Sarkissian (Syria) uses traditional documentary photographic techniques to highlight the paradox between the beauty and constancy of natural and urban landscapes and the social and historical realities that they conceal.

Hrair Sarkissian has shown his work internationally, including, most recently, Kalfayan Galleries, Athens (2010), the 11th Istanbul Biennal (2009), the State Museum of Contemporary Art (Thessaloniki, Greece, 2008) and Disorientation II (Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, 2010). He currently lives and works in London.
