Wok the Rock (Indonesia) is an artist and cultural activist, interested in experimenting with collective space and working across the fields of contemporary art, design and underground music. Wok’s versatile practice includes Parasite Lottery(2016), a collective lottery system for art organisations in the Netherlands and their communities, developed together with Casco in Utretch, and Hacking Conflict, in which visual artists, theatre directors, musicians, choreographers, writers, designers, editors and cultural activists collaborated throughout a series of discussion groups, using the exhibition site as a socially-engaged platform.
Wok is a member of artist collective Ruang MES 56 in Yogyakarta, runs the music label Yes No Wave Music and initiated the Indonesian Netaudio Forum. He was the curator of Biennale Jogja XIII in 2015.
His works have been exhibited and performed at Jakarta Biennale in 2013, Koganecho Bazaar in Yokohama; 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art in Sydney; Stedelijk Museum Bureau in Amsterdam; SongEun Art Space in Seoul; and at Casco – Office for Art, Design and Theory in Utrecht.
