Sherief Gaber


Sherief Gaber (Egypt) is a researcher and urban planner living in Cairo, Egypt. His work focuses on housing, the right to the city and urban citizenship. Gaber is currently researching and writing about issues of public space and politics, while working with community development organisations in Cairo on issues of public space, community planning and governance.

In addition to his work in urbanism, Gaber is a founding member of the Mosireen: Independent Media Collective, documenting and producing video work related to the events of the Egyptian revolution and social justice issues in Egypt, as well as training citizen journalists and others in various media tools.

Gaber is at present engaged in a project attempting to use audio to engage with the spaces of protest and revolution.
