Nishat Awan (UK associate) is a Lecturer in Architecture at University of Sheffield. Her research focuses on the intersection of geo-politics and space, in particular working with the topics of migration, borders and diasporas. She is co-author of Spatial Agency (Routledge, 2011), a book that explores other modes of practicing architecture, including participative and activist practices in urban contexts. Currently, she is working on a book based on her doctoral thesis, Diasporic Agencies (Ashgate), due to be published in 2015.
