Merve Mepa (Turkey) focuses on intra-actions, ruptures, gaps, and interplays between theory and practice. She synthesises historical, scientific, and marginalised knowledge to create work within a complex system of diverse elements of production and labour. Research-practice synergies facilitate this process. This, intertwined with tradition, labour and technology, fosters a space for discussing diffractions within a complex system.
During her residency at Delfina Foundation, Merve will continue her research into the historical links between women, textiles and the development of computing. She will explore the impact of labour, production and thought paradigms at their intersections, both symbolically and materially. The process will engage in an approach that includes logic, mathematics, implications, contradictions, marginalised and local knowledge, influences, mistakes, intuitions and other unknown, undescribed or unseen methodologies.
Merve is born and based in Istanbul, Turkey.
