A collective of two artists who also maintain their individual practices, Leung Chi Wo + Sara Wong (UK associates) explore the mundane but detailed pictures overlooked in everyday life, from unusual urban spaces or anonymous passers-by, occurring in history or fictitious memories. They reconstruct narratives from existing objects and images by means of text, photography, performance and installations.

As UK associates during Delfina Foundation’s fourth season of Collecting as Practice, Wo and Sara will look into local archives and family photo albums for the presence of strangers that may sidetrack the usual narrative of the collection, a methodology developed from their ongoing project Museum of the Lost.

Wo and Sara began their creative collaboration in 1992. In 2001 the pair represented Hong Kong in the city’s first pavilion at Venice Biennale, where they presented City Cookie, for which cookies were made in the shape of the sky that peeks through high-rise buildings. Leung Chi Wo is Associate Professor in the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. Sara Wong is also a landscape designer and teaches at the Hong Kong Design Institute.

Both artist b.1968, Hong Kong. Based in Hong Kong, currently in the UK on sabbatical.
