Anna Housiada (Greece) produces work that stems from both academic and artistic research and which revolves around the experience and expression of social and ethnic identity. Anna understands her practice as a rhizome, growing across questions of belonging, through participation and collective production of knowledge, writing, crafting and cooking, creating intersections with the potential to activate a historical, critical and political dialogue.

During her residency at Delfina Foundation, Anna will revisit the history of spices, which, underneath the stimulation of our senses and exotic imagination, encloses the battle for supremacy between colonial powers and the exploitation of resources and people. She will be concerned with the surviving traditions related to culinary and medicinal uses of spices in the migrant communities of London and their role in identity performativity.

Anna was born in Greece and is currently based in Athens.
