Alexandra (Ali) MacGilp (UK) is an independent curator and writer based in London. She is interested in film, video, performance and installation practices and archive materials. She enjoys curating multi-media exhibitions with accompanying talk and performance programmes. She has worked with established and emerging artists, both international and UK-based, across a variety of venues in London, as well as in Amsterdam, Hamburg and Kabul. Since 2008, she has also worked as part of curatorial collective, with Cassandra Needham.

Ali has written for a variety of publications, including EXIT Express for many years, and is a founder and editor of the website artvehicle.com. She received her BA in English and History of Art from University College London, and has a Masters in History of Art from Birkbeck College, London, and in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London. Last year she completed her doctorate in History of Art, writing on the development of the Tate collection; this was an AHRC-funded collaborative project between the University of Reading and Tate Britain.
