Launch of Artist to Artist International 2010

Visiting Arts in partnership with The Delfina Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of Artist to Artist International 2010. The programme provides an opportunity to bring together artists to initiate dialogues across international borders, enabling pairs of artists to enter into new working relationships on an open-ended and informal basis. Professional, practising UK based artists can apply to invite an artist of their choice to visit UK for one week for the exchange of ideas and experiences.

Artist to Artist 2010 is supported by the Delfina Foundation and the Arts Council of England.

The 2010 scheme will introduce a geographic focus by inviting artists from:

Afghanistan, Algeria. Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordon, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Morocco, Oman, Palestine Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

The selected overseas artist will spend two weeks in the UK. The emphasis is on the development and research process rather than production, free from any obligation to produce a prescribed outcome.

All selected participants will need to be available from the 8 March until the 21 March 2010 (fixed).

Please contact Adam Knights for application forms and further details about the scheme: apply@visitingarts.org.uk

Application deadline: December 5 2009.

Framing Reality

Friday 6 March 2009, 19.00–20.00

Framing Reality explores the challenges raised by artists' increasing involvement with the documentary genre. In an era of reality TV and internet broadcasting, the contested genre of the 'docu-fiction', blurs the frontier between reality and fiction, and begs the question who narrates history and whose history? Panel discussion with artists Lamia Joreige (Lebanon) and Oraib Toukan (Jordan) and curator Mark Nash.

This event is part of the Tate Triennal's Late at Tate programme.
