Magic of Persia and The Delfina Foundation are partnering to offer a 12-week residency in London, to an artist living and working in Iran.

Ala Dehghan was selected for the 2010 Magic of Persia Residency at Delfina Foundation. Working in a very personal realm, Ala's small scale, mixed media drawings document her everyday rapport to the experiences that affect her mind and her life. Ala graduated from Tehran University with an MA in Painting. She has recently exhibited at Thaddaeus Ropac (Paris), Silk Road Gallery (Tehran), and currently lives and works in Karaj, Iran.

MOP CAP is the first award to globally recognise the talent of emerging Iranian artists, many of whom have had little exposure on the competitive international art scene. The award is designed to support and promote the career development of the most exciting young Iranian artists in the world. The Magic of Persia Residency at The Delfina Foundation is an initiative associated with MOP CAP but independent of the prize.  Ala's residency will be from January 2011 for three months.

The winner of MOPCAP 2009 is Mahmoud Bakhshi who has also been invited into residence at Delfina Foundation, sponsored by Maryam Eisler, in association with Magic of Persia. Mahmoud's residency takes place from September 2010 for three months, which overlapped with his solo show at the Saatchi Gallery as the MOP CAP winner.
